Almost ready for the Scillies!!!

29 April 2008 - 12:24
Well this has been a bit of a year so far, with the risk of not all the boats getting across on time, put a lot of us into a spin. But looks like they are all across now, so i think we are all in for a bit of a treat this year.

The top clubs seem to have put it up another gear , if that was possible, with Falmouth 'A' looking like they are going to mount a real challenge to Caradon, not to mention Roseland, Par (et al )  all bitting at their heels!

As for some of us lesser rowers, i think most of us are happy being involved in such a great event, doing what we love and are best.

My own club has been training hard, but have found it hard this year to keep a constant crew, with attendance of training sessions always a problem, with many of us being self employed and illness. So we have only in  the last two weeks got a crew together. I am sure we can't be the only club with this sort of problem.

But saying that, we are all very keen to get across there and do some serious racing and see were we come.

Lots of things going on across the weekend apart from the racing, please try to support the Mainland rugby club with their sale of wrist bands fo NATHAN WOODCOCK, ADAM MALLON & ROB MORTON, all funds will go to the families and the RNLI, really worth while and certainly worth £2.

Also the rugby match on Monday morning is always worth a laugh, whether you want to play or watch, its always well played with 30 blokes with really really bad hangovers running around a pitch for an hour trying not to be sick, and then of course lots  of singing and drinking afterwards before singing of the boat.

Don't forget the bonfire Sunday night will go ahead whatever the weather, with BBQ , Bands & Beer! who could ask fo more and if you are leaving on Monday what a way to finish the weekend!

Well all i need to do now is wish you all the best of luck for the racing, unless of course your in my group, and then i hope your bung comes out!!!

Seriously guys all the best for the weekend i hope you all have a great one!!

SEE YOU ON THE WATER!!!!
