Hi All,
well the 8th of March saw the launch of two new gigs, 'FAITH' from Devoran & 'TAMAR' from Tamar Tavy. So one in Devon & one in Devoran! ho ho sorry my humour!
I would say the weather could have been a little kinder to the proceedings, with wind, rain and hail at both events.
Tamar Tavy 's new gig, was blessed by Nick Lawe ( rector ) at Bere Ferrers. The gig had a long procession through the village led by a Bag Piper from the Exeter Pipe band. The gig itself was pushed down the hill by the T & T juniors team, followed behind by a large number of club members, sponsors & villagers alike.
TAMAR built by Brian Knobbs, and painted in the West Ham colours of blue and Port was jointly funded by a Lottery grant of £10k , £1500 from WDBC £1100 from independent sponsors and the remainder by fundraising.
  
Unfortunately the gig was not launched, because of weather & tide conditions which hampered proceedings but didn't seem to dampen spirits or the beer that flowed in the pub, and then after at the social club for much of the evening.
I will do a write up of the Devoran launch over the next few days, as i couldn't be at both, but by all accounts everyone had a great time and everthing went to plan, i know Bishop Bill was up to his normal form. Jen from Zennor was full of praise saying 'The Green People' (Zennor) went to Devoran's launch of their new gig 'Faith' yesterday. Weather was horrendous - cold and very very wet!! However, it was still a really good event with superb hospitablity - i.e. free port and bubbly for everyone. Well done Devoran, and good luck in the Scillies and for the forthcoming season.
Well i don't think i could do better than that! I want to wish both clubs the best of luck in there new gigs for the coming season. Hopefully i will have some photos of both events in the next few days, if you want to send some in please do to. info@pilotgigs.com
